Q. How did a degree in Music from Cardiff University and a post-graduate qualification in Arts Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama lead to a career as a cook, food writer and TV presenter?

A. In 2013, Beca made it to the semi-finals of The Great British Bake Off and hasn’t looked back since.

Beca hails from Cardiff but her mother was a Carmarthen girl. She now presents her own TV series on S4C called Becws (Bakehouse) whose second series is already being filmed.

Other opportunities arising from that show have included:

  • Promoting London’s famous Borough Market - in the demo kitchen, on its website and as the face of family cooking project, ‘Dinner’s Ready’
  • Regular teaching at a cookery school in Derbyshire
  • Masterclasses for the apprentices at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant in London
  • Appearances at food shows and festivals from the Good Food Show in Birmingham to Narberth Food Festival
